Health and Safety

The leadership of Torpedo7 recognizes the importance of safety and is committed to providing and maintaining a safe working environment for all team members, customers, contractors and visitors. By working together and following the rules, we will ensure a healthy and safe working environment for everyone.

To do this Torpedo7:
  • Works in consultation with team members and their representatives to manage workplace health and safety.
  • Fosters participation of all team members in working together to continually improve workplace health and safety.
  • Is committed to supporting injured team members during their recovery and an early and safe return to work.
  • Ensures all health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice and industry standards are met.



Near Miss, Incidents, and Accidents

If you are in any way involved in a near miss/incident or accident while engaged in work for Torpedo7, you agree to advise Torpedo7 of the details of any such situation immediately. You are required to log any incident or injury that has occurred in the accident register provided by Torpedo7 on the day the incident occurs.

Torpedo7 reserves the right to dispute the validity of any claim (ACC or otherwise) relating to the alleged work related accidents or injuries which have not been reported in accordance with Torpedo7’s policy.

Work Related Accidents

A medical certificate is required for all claims for work related injuries.  It may be necessary to provide a doctor’s certificate stating you are fit to restart work. Your wages/leave will be covered for any work related accident in accordance with the regulations set out in the Accident Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 1992 or any subsequent legislation.

Non-Work Related Accidents

If leave is required because of a non-work accident, it will be treated as sick leave for the first five days, if sick leave is due.  After that it is your responsibility to claim from the Accident Compensation Corporation.

ACC

If you have an accident where you will receiving ACC pay you are required to bring in you ACC45 form in; your Manager will work with payroll to let them know you will paid correctly.  Torpedo7 do not pay ACC surcharges for work or non-work related accidents.

Pre-existing Injury or Medical Condition

Section 7(6) of the Accident Rehabilitation and Compensation Insurance Act provides that where a person misrepresents themselves in writing to the Employer before commencing employment, in response to a specific request from the Employer to provide information regarding personal injury, gradual process injury, disease, or infection, or if the applicant refuses to undergo a base line hearing test, there will be no entitlement to cover under the Act for any injury so misrepresented.

Also any team member who misrepresents their health in pre-employment information and is subsequently employed, may face disciplinary action.
